Posted on: 14 February 2016

Dhofar Automotive, authorized dealers of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA)brands in Oman, have highly efficient aerodynamic vehicle designs that are linked to new fuel-efficient technologies, lightweight materials, highly efficient transmissions and ever more advanced engines making them a favorite amongst the local market.

“FCA has always had a keen eye on the environment and endeavored to manufacture cars that are fuel-efficient, making the most of, and doing justice to the limited resources we have.”said Bob Lee, Vice President - Engine, Powertrain and Electrified Propulsion and Systems Engineering at FCA. “Continuous research and development initiatives matched with a customer-centric approach - FCA pays utmost heed to these two critical components.”
FCA continues to incorporate a wide range of advanced features in their vehicles that unite and together work to maximize fuel economy without ever compromising on performance.

FCA’s Class-exclusive standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission

Once limited to vehicles costing far more, the majority of the latest Chrysler, Dodge, RAM and Jeep models now feature the innovative TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. The state-of-the-art TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission provides world-class shift quality, refinement and fuel efficiency.

HEMI Engine benefits from FCA’s Fuel Saver Technology

Breaking the myth that a powerful car is always high on fuel consumption, the FCA’s Fuel Saver Technology with cylinder-deactivation provides fuel economy on 5.7-litre HEMI V8 powered models. This breakthrough in technology allows seamless transmissions between high-fuel-economy in the four cylinder mode for casual long drives and the V8 mode when the driver demands more power. The benefit is that the engine saves fuel while it runs in the usual fuel-economy mode and utilizes the V8 power burst only when it is required. As with all FCA cars, all this is done without sacrificing vehicle performance or capability.

The 2.4-litre Tigershark engine with MultiAir2 available in the Chrysler 200, Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade models is made for fuel efficiency

The all-new Chrysler 200, Fiat 500X and the Jeep Renegade (the first vehicle available in the small SUV class with a nine-speed automatic transmission) feature the 2.4-litre Tigershark engine with the MultiAir2. Paired with this engine, the nine-speed transmission delivers numerous benefits to the customers. This duo coupled together provides for aggressive launches, smooth power delivery at highway speeds and improved fuel efficiency versus competitive six-speed automatic transmissions. A typical example is the Chrysler 200 which delivers more than 6.53 L/100km on the highway.

Award-winning Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 - debuts on the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the world’s most-awarded SUV is further enhanced for improved fuel economy

Already unique among V6 engines for its refinement, power, efficiency and adaptability, FCA’s award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar engine has been remade for 2016 models. Depending on the application, the redesigned V6 delivers fuel-economy improvements of more than 6% while increasing torque by more than 14.9%. This occurs at engine speeds below 3,000 rpm, where elevated torque has its most profound impact on the driving experience. Increased fuel-efficiency was a key impetus in the development of the redesigned 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine.

FCA’S all-wheel drive system – on the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X

FCA has developed an exclusive all-wheel drive that disconnects a vehicle’s front or rear axle when the all-wheel drive capability is not needed. Thus by significantly reducing the number of rotating components in the driveline, it goes to serve its primary mission of enhancing fuel economy.

Eco Mode

Always offering an option for a fuel-efficient drive, most FCA cars come equipped with an Eco mode alternative. This is shown by FCA’s aggressive support for advanced powertrain development. It began as soon as the company was established in 2009. From model-year 2011 to the present, FCA has introduced 15 new transmissions, 18 new engines and the battery-electric drive system featured in the acclaimed Fiat 500e all-electric vehicle – The need of the Hour
